St. Matthias - Education for Ministry (EFM)

Would you like to know more about the Bible?
Would you like to see how the Bible connects with the issues we face today?
Do you wish you had a better understanding of how to best use your particular gifts?

EFM, or Education for Ministry, can help. EFM offers a four year course covering the basic subjects of a theological education: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Theological Choices. Participants register for one year at a time. We meet weekly for about two hours from the end of February through October. The study materials help participants examine their own beliefs and their relationship to our culture and the tradition of our Christian faith. Enrollment will begin January 25th . Our first session is planned for February 22nd . Contact Kathy Knobel (891-2898) if you're interested in obtaining enrollment materials or if you have questions or want more information. EFM can change your life!

Education for Ministry, a worldwide program developed by the University of the South's School of Theology , is designed to help lay people move toward a new understanding of the fullness of God's world.

The EFM seminar group at St. Matthias began in 2006 under the leadership of Kathy Knobel.

The program is a four year study, committed one year at a time. Year 1 is based on the Old Testament; Year 2 is New Testament; Year 3 is church history; and Year 4 looks at theological and moral choices. In addition to the study materials, the seminar group participates together in prayer and theological reflection.
